Mini-Review:
The LS223 is produced by Tektite
and is an E10 Edison Miniature Screw base, 10MM, Luxeon
I LED replacement bulb for 2 cell systems that use a
standard E10 incandescent bulb. This bulb is available
separately or in the new Tektite
Splash-Lite LS.
The LS223 is an effective replacement for most lights
which take the old 10MM screw base bulbs and is especially
effective in lights which use a reflector because the
side emitting Luxeon I is designed to send most of its
light out to the sides. This allows the reflector to
capture the light and send it forward in a way similar
to how an incandescent bulb is used.
Luxeon bulbs, by nature, have some significant advantages
over incandescent bulbs. They last a very, very long
time before replacement is needed (in the thousands
of hours), they are extremely shockproof and won't "blow"
if dropped, and they provide a much more natural color
temperature of light (whiter light).
Installation is very easy - simply remove your old
bulb and drop this one in. Current draw is rated at
a max of 250 mA and this bulb is ONLY designed for 3V
systems. Tektite is going to be producing similar bulbs
for 4.5 and 6V systems soon.
The sample received performed very well
with good output, good color temperature, and decent
beam alignment. All-in-all, an excellent adaptation
of new technology to an old classic bulb. The LS-223
will allow for a modern update to your current 10MM
screw base bulb lights.
