Light Type: 5mm LED
Light Class: General use

Short Description:

The Swiss Tech Micro-Pro is a cute little "pocket toolbox". It includes a docking bay with built in 5mm LED light powered by two 2016 coin cell batteries and a removable microtool which includes pliers, #2 Phillips and #2 slotted screwdriver, wire cutter, wire stripper, and sheet shear. The switch for the LED light is both momentary and click-on.

Detailed Information:

Need a little tiny toolbox for your keychain? This is it! An LED flashlight, pliers, screwdrivers, and a few other features thrown in for good measure. The Micro-Pro multi-function tool is the same length as the regular Swiss Tech Micro-Tech that you may have seen around, but it is beefier in construction and lacks the option for the fine screwdrivers.

The body of the light is plastic polymer, black, and has a red switch on the top that can be slid toward the keychain hole for constant on, or pressed in for momentary activation. On the back of the body is a docking post where the Micro-Pro tool grabs on and remains when not in use.

The LED is simply exposed out the front of the body, but is partially protected by the arms of the Micro-Pro tool which extend slightly farther than the LED.

Output is pretty typical for a 5mm white LED. Directional flood of bluish tinted light.

The unit really isn't water resistant, so avoid water.

Changing the batteries is a little bit of a process. First you need to remove 3 screws with a #0 Phillips screwdriver (NOT included on the Micro-Pro tool...) Then carefully remove the LED and two doughnut shaped washers held onto the batteries with weak adhesive. Re-attach the washers to the new batteries and replace everything exactly the way you found it.

What I Liked: Good output, Nice tool attached.

What I Didn't Like: Not water resistant, Difficult battery change

Other Things I Noticed: The Micro-Pro tool is a bit more rough in finish than the usual Micro-Tech pliers. I think they need to polish up all the surfaces a little more next time.

Conclusions: Great little multi-purpose LED light and tool set for those quickie repairs. Could come in very handy in a pinch. No blades, so you may be able to get away with carrying this on an airplane. (UPDATE: Actually, you can't bring it onto an airplane. It seems that the airplane police think this is a dangerous weapon... morons...)
