Reviewer's
Impressions:
The Princeton Tec Attitude is a very convenient, small LED
light suitable for camping trips and hikes. It would be quite
useful for puttering around the camp at night or working in
the tent. Since it is watertight there is no need to worry
about protecting the Attitude from the elements. Drop it in
the pond or stream and it keeps on going. Use it in the rain
without worry.
The body of the Attitude is very tough. Watertightness is
provided by an o-ring at the bezel-body interface and it is
rated for a depth of 500 feet.
The lamp assembly contains three white 5mm LEDs in a triangular
pattern. These lamps send out a flood of bluish-white light.
Since the LEDs are not fragile and do not "blow"
like incandescent bulbs, there should never be a need to replace
the lamp assembly.
Light output is very good for a 3 LED light and the beam
is rather smooth, weighted toward the center. Twist the bezel
for on/off operation. Runtime is will be many hours on a set
of alkaline AAA batteries.
When it's time for a battery change, simply remove the bezel
and lamp assembly, drop out the old batteries, and put in
4 new ones. 2 on one side (+) up, 2 on the other side (-)
up. Replace the lamp assembly and bezel. LEDs are sensitive
to polarity, so if you put the lamp in and it doesn't work,
remove it, turn it 180 deg. and reinsert.
Keep the O-ring lubricated with a silicone-based grease and
if the light does get flooded, rinse it with fresh water and
let it dry.
What I Liked: Very waterproof, good smooth
beam, and very tough case. Shape of the body makes it easy
to handle. Small and lightweight.
What I Didn't Like: Not much at all.
Other Things I Noticed: You do get a
little light filtering back through the rear of the bezel.
Some folks may find this to be a distraction, but it didn't
bother me at all.
Conclusions: Great little light for around
the house, camping, backpacks, duffle bags, etc. Very small,
adequately bright for most close-range tasks, and has a very
long runtime on a set of batteries.
