Light Type: Incandescent
Light Class: General Use

Short Description:

The "Police" Xenon light was sent to us from Hong Kong. It uses a xenon bulb powered by two 123a lithium 3V batteries to produce a good amount of light. It has a momentary pushbutton tailcap that can be twisted for constant on use. The tailcap can also be "locked out" to prevent accidental activation. The bezel can be twisted to focus the beam as well. O-ring on both ends make the light water resistant. A nice belt sheath is included.

Reviewer's Impressions:

The "Police" xenon light is an average quality light that produces a good quantity of light for its size.

The body of the light appears to be machined and anodized aluminum. The body and tailcap are checkered for grip. The machining is good quality with little or no blemishes. The threads are smooth and well cut.

The bezel contains an aluminum reflector, plastic lens and a bulb. The reflector is polished and appears to have a very slight texture. The bulb is removed by first removing the bezel, then unscrewing the bulb-holder assembly, and pushing the bulb out toward its base. The base of the bulb is slightly larger than the front, preventing it from falling out of its socket when the light is dropped on its face. At the same time, the batteries maintain enough pressure on the bulb to keep it in good contact with the holder assembly, thereby ensuring a complete electrical circuit.

The switch is a duo-function switch. The momentary pushbutton is on the end. Twisting the tailcap gives constant light. The switch is water resistant if twisted, but pushing in on the momentary button breaks the seal formed by a rubber gasket inside the tailcap. If the light is being used in wet conditions, use the twist-on functionality only. Unscrewing the tailcap one extra turn effectively "locks out" the switch, preventing accidental activation.

Overall quality is pretty good. The machining appears to be of good quality and the light is very functional. Although not as bright as many 2 x 123 lithium lights, it is very small and certainly usable. Battery life is unknown.

Included with the light is a very nifty belt sheath that has a D-ring and multiple "velcro" straps and belt loops.

In general, a nice little 123a lithium light. Depending on the price I'd certainly consider one just to throw in my pocket or glovebox.

+ + + Pluses: Water resistant, Small, Bright, Easy battery change, Lightweight, Lockout switch

- - - Minuses: Beam off center, Momentary switch not water resistant.
