Very Good

Light Type: Luxeon I LED
Light Class: Outdoor / Specialty / Etc.

The NightCutter P20 is a Luxeon 1 flashlight powered by 2 123A cells. The body is aluminum and is anodized both inside and out for corrosion and abrasion resistance. The finish is very nice and just plain looks good. The light body is a grayish dark blue. Deep grooves cover the body for improving grip.

Package top

A large, strong clip sits on one side for attaching the light to your gear or clipping inside your pocket. The clip is removable with the use of a hex wrench.

Clip detail

The outside of the bezel is hex shaped which serves as an anti-roll device. Inside the bezel is a Luxeon I LED high dome and a total internal reflection collimator lens. The lens can be swapped out for other optics, presumably available from NightCutter.

Bezel detail

Output is in the form of a squarish beam which has excellent color temperature - very close to sunlight white. The beam is fairly narrow and has little or no spillbeam.

Runtime Plot:

Runtime completed with Surefire batteries. More information on runtime plots is available HERE.

For batteries, the P20 takes two 123A lithium cells. The tailcap unscrews for access to the battery compartment. Drop the cells in NEGATIVE first. This is different from most lights. Reattach the tailcap when complete. Battery life is advertised as 4-5 hours at full output, 24 hours total. Output diminishes throughout the life of the batteries.

Size vs. Common 2AA aluminum light

The switch is simple twist type. Tighten for on, loosen for off. If you loosen it 1/8 turn from on you can press in on the tailcap for a pseudo-"momentary operation". You are really just taking advantage of the play in the threads, there is no special mechanism involved here. Loosening the tailcap 1 turn locks it out and prevents accidental operation. The tailcap has a lanyard hole built in.

The body is sealed with Teflon rings and O-ring for water resistance.

What I Liked: Water resistant, LEDs are inherently tough/impact resistant, Good battery life, Bright, Easy battery change, Lightweight, Stands up, Great finish and color, Heavy duty clip

What I Didn't Like: Not regulated

Other Things I Noticed: Although it has grooves for grip, the finish is a bit slick. Hold onto it tightly or use a lanyard in situations where it would be lost if dropped.

Conclusions: Great output, stylish looks, and good output. Small and compact yet intense. A solid light, well made and designed.
