Short Description:

The NeoGlo Lightshow Strobe is a novelty keychain/pendant light made by Team Products International. The NeoGlo brand is often found at Target department stores. This is strictly a novelty light with some clever lighting effects.

The body of the light is aluminum with O ring seals at both the removable tailcap (for battery changes) and the wand diffuser attached to the bezel end. Removing the diffuser negates any water resistance the unit has, exposing the LEDs and circuitry. The body comes in a variety of anodized colors.

Inside the light you can see 3 - 3mm LEDs. One red, one blue, and one green. These combine to create a either a white light from the diffuser when they are all turned on or a neat strobe effect when blinked in sequence. Removing the diffuser will allow the light to be used (marginally) as a flashlight.

There are 2 switches. The first gives a 3 second light show, blinking the LEDs in the sequence red-green-blue-green, and repeating. The second switch is a 3 way switch which first turns on all 3 LEDs, giving a white light through the diffuser, second it blinks all 3 at once, giving a blinking white strobe effect, and third it blinks the LEDs in the sequence listed above until turned off.

Batteries used are 3 x LR44 button cell batteries. They are included and a spare set is included as well. Unscrew the tailcap to change the batteries.

Accessories include a keychain ring, clasp, and lanyard.

The NeoGlo Lightshow Strobe is a cute little light. It would be good for a quick demonstration of how our eyes combine red, green, and blue light to see white light, and it would be great to keep the kids occupied for hours.

Fit and finish is marginal. I had to carve some plastic out of the head of the light where it was formed very roughly. I also had to realign the LEDs inside the head as they were pointing more outward than anything. I redirected them with a small knife so that they pointed at the base of the diffuser.

Quality / Durability / Construction are all marginal. Don't expect this light to last a lifetime.

Output is decent. In a pinch it could be used as a flashlight, but I wouldn't trust it for such. It is strictly a novelty light.

Beam quality is poor. Blotchy and ring-filled without the diffuser.

Water resistance should be OK, but I wouldn't dunk it in case water gets in through the switches.

Don't carry this light in your pocket. With the exposed switches it WILL turn on and the batteries will die on you.

Most of all you should just have fun with it! It's a neat little novelty light for the kids (or you!) to play with. Leave it dangling from your side, or around your neck when you're outside at night going for a walk. On the "lightshow" mode, every little twitch will cause a strobe of different colors to be seen. Kids should especially like hanging something like this from their bike handlebars.
