Detailed
Information:
The Micro-Lenser is one strange little light. It runs
on a BR435 battery which is very unusual. I'm told that
these batteries are often used in lighted fishing lures
and may be available from some sporting goods stores.
The light itself is quite classy looking and would make
for a nice "Executive Gift" or company promotional
item.
The body is advertised as stainless steel and seems
quite durable. The tailcap threads appear to be brass.
The tailcap is knurled for grip and a simple twist of
the tailcap turns the light on and off. There are two
o-rings on the tailcap. One, in the center of the threads,
appears to be there only to provide some resistance
to the turning of the tailcap. This may be to prevent
the light from coming on accidentally. The second o-ring
appears to be there to provide water resistance.
The bezel is slightly larger than the rest of the body
and contains the LED and lens. There are holes around
the bezel which help indicate that the light is on.
The lens and LED are recessed and well protected.
The beam produced is also unusual. It is a direct projection
of the LED die and as a result is square in shape with
a dark spot in the center and a dark line going from
the center to one edge. The light projects far for its
output, but is not all that bright in general.
A split ring and swivel are included with the light,
as well as a pocket clip. The entire thing comes in
a little foam padded cardboard box.
What I Liked: Water resistant,
Very classy looking.
What I Didn't Like: Strange battery.
Order extras when you order the light. Beam is not smooth
at all, but is intended for close work only.
Other Things I Noticed: Nothing
to mention.
Conclusions: A cute light. Very
small. Would make a nice inexpensive "presentation
gift" for your boss.
