Short Description:

Available from PocketLights.com

The Litepro Kee-biner is a small, dual purpose, single LED light built into a carbiner. It is intended to be clipped to your keychain, backpack, duffle, etc. for a quick and handy source of light. The unit is available in a variety of colors with the carbiner color matching the color of the LED. The sample provided was blue and emitted a blue light from the LED. The Kee-biner runs on 2 lithium coin cells and uses a simple squeeze click switch for activation. It has a little circuit that provides a flashing mode and a constant-on mode as well. The Kee-biner includes a nylon strap with attached key ring.

Detailed Information:

The Litepro Kee-biner is a simple little novelty keychain light which goes one step beyond your standard keychain light by providing a blinking safety strobe mode in addition to its normal constant-on mode. Since it is built into a carbiner, it can be easily clipped to just about anything.

The body of the Kee-biner consists of a plastic housing mounted in an aluminum carbiner. The carbiner portion is marked "not for climbing" and the gate opens on the opposite side from a normal carbiner. Many carbiner-keychains have a hook molded into the aluminum body where the gate opens. This unit has a smooth angle at the gate opening, which is a welcome change. I keep my keys on a carbiner and that darn hook always hangs up on my belt loop when I try to remove it. This little angled opening won't catch when you try to unclip it.

The lighting portion of the Kee-biner is the same color as the LED and squeezing the body clicks it on. First it comes on in blink mode, and a second press turns it on constant. A third click turns it off. The LED is slightly exposed and could potentially be marred if dropped. However, the epoxy that makes up the body of LEDs is pretty tough and can handle most impacts without trouble.

The switch seems to be of pretty good quality and doesn't seem to be apt to accidental activation. It is easy to press and provides a click-type feedback.

The unit really isn't water resistant. If it gets wet, swing it around in a big loop to dry it out.

For batteries it takes two 1220 coin cell batteries. It will probably run for 3-4 hours before you will want to change them. There is a single screw on one side of the plastic body of the light. Removing the screw allows you access to the batteries to change them out.

Included with the light are installed batteries and a nylon strap with an attached key ring.

What I Liked: Clips anywhere, 2 lighting modes, Convenient, Bright

What I Didn't Like: Not water resistant, Tools needed for battery change

Other Things I Noticed:

Conclusions: A cute little clip-on keychain light. Get a couple for the kids - they'll love them!
