Impressions:
The Kriana Krill Extreme can replace chemical light sticks
as advertised. Its glow is usable in a dark environment for
close work. Battery changes are easy and it is waterproof.
The durability of the Krill has come into question. Several
folks have reported that a shock to the device causes the
electroluminescent panel to fail, with one or two bright blue
lines appearing around the panel when turned on, and that's
all. The unit tested seemed durable enough to withstand normal
bumps and drops. I don't know if I would give it to the kids
to toss around in the back yard like a chemical light stick,
though.
Although well suited as a marker light, its use as an area
light is marginal in anything but a completely dark environment.
Personally, I would much rather use an Arc AAA or some other
small LED light as a tent light.
+ + + Pluses: Can replace chemical light sticks as
advertised, decent glow, stands on end, watertight
- - - Minuses: Possibly fragile EL panel, not very
effective for area light use
