MINI-REVIEW
(short, quick, and to the point)
The HuntLight FT-A2 is yet another single AA powered
Luxeon LED flashlight. The market is getting swamped
with them as various companies jump on the bandwagon
and try to get a piece of the market. Each one is a
little different and has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Body: The body is Type II anodized aluminium,
black, with scalloped bezel and machined-in rings to
aid in grip. The tailcap is flat so that it can stand
on end, even with the lanyard attached.
Bezel/Head: An anti-reflective glass lens protects
the internal optics. Inside is a textured reflector
and Luxeon R-bin LED, along with a boost circuit which
is advertised to give you about 1.5 hour runtime on
a single AA cell.
Output: The white light produced by the LED
is has no noticeable hue. Very white.
Beam at one meter at target center
Runtime Plot:
Runtime
completed with Duracell brand batteries. More information
on runtime plots is available HERE.
Runtime
completed with Energizer 2300mAh brand batteries. More
information on runtime plots is available HERE.
Switch: A textured rubber cover protects the
tailcap switch. Click for on-off. "Reverse"
type clickie. Very crisp.
Seals / Water Resistance: O-rings protect the
light from the entry of water. Dunkable.
If it gets wet inside, just disassemble as much a possible
without tools and let it dry before using again.
Ergonomics:
Size compared to a common 2AA aluminum light
Batteries: A single AA cell powers the light.
Alkaline, Ni-MH, Lithium
To change out the batteries: unscrew the tailcap, drop
out the old cells, place in new cells observing proper
polarity. Reattach the tailcap and you're ready to go.
Accessories: A nylon wrist lanyard comes attached.
Impressions: To be determined...
