Very Good/Excellent

Light Type:Cree XP-E
Light Class:Outdoor / Specialty

Body: The main battery tube of the P100C2 is very similar to the P10C2 but slightly slimmer and has a diamond-textured knurling going round the front half of the tube. A flat surface is machined on the knurled area where branding text is printed. The entire light's clean cylindrical design makes it feel very compact when held in hand. The entire light is finished in black Type 3 anodizing which is consistent throughout with no blemishes of other faults to be found on its surface. Threads on either ends on the battery tube are anodized as well and mate well with the head and tail cap with no issues of cross-threading or grinding. A single thick rubber o-ring sits behind both threads which provide water resistance. The tail cap houses a forward push button, allowing for momentary activation. The switching mechanism has an average amount of travel and resistance, and also provides a very positive tactile feedback and audible click when engaged. On the exterior surface, the tail cap is also covered in a good amount of knurling allowing for easy grip for battery changes. The rubber switch cap protrudes out the end of the tail cap so the light isn't able to tail stand, though this does mean that it's easier to press the switch.

Bezel/Head: The head of the P100C2 has a 3-point crenellated bezel which allows for light to shine through when placed head down so you won't accidentally leave it on. The multi-coated lens reduces light transmission loss due to reflection on the glass. A well-polished aluminum reflector is housed right behind the lens. Surface finish on the reflector was perfect from visual inspection, with some slight radial machining lines running down the reflector cup. The LED sits well-aligned at the base of the aluminum reflector. The external design of the head has a simple cylindrical design with most of its surface area covered in a knurling. Looking from the rear of the head we can see the physical reverse polarity protection employed by use of a raised ring around the "+" contact point. Around the outer radius is the spring-mounted metal ring which controls the Hi/Lo mode switching.

Output: The EagleTac P100C2 provides a pretty straight forward user interface, especially when compared to all the multi-mode and variable brightness ramping modes of some recent lights. This will be a welcomed addition to some who just want a light that works without confusing the general user. With the head tightened the light is in Hi mode, advertised at 220 lumens. Loosened puts it into Lo mode, advertised at 55 lumens.

The beam profile is surprisingly clean considering the P100C2 uses a smooth reflector. Only minor artifacts are present around the corona right around the narrow hotspot, but this in itself isn't even noticeable during practical use. My sample has a very nice neutral white color temperature. As you can see from the graphs below, regulation is maintained well and runtime is good with CR123 cells, but rather short on Hi mode with 16340 cells

Batteries: For batteries, this light is approved by the manufacturer for use with two 16340 or two CR123

To change out the batteries: unscrew the tailcap, drop out the old cells, place in new cells observing proper polarity. Reattach the tailcap and you're ready to go.

Accessories: Several accessories are included with the light. Inside the package you will find one Lanyard attachment ring and two Spare rubber o-ringsr.

Picky Little Things:Nohing to report

Conclusions: The Good - Fit and finish is excellent. Very bright on Hi level for a pocket-sized light. Simple user interface with nice variation of Hi and Lo brightness levels. The Bad - Rather short runtimes on 16340 cells. The Relative - Neutral white beam color tint. Uses a forward push button. Is not able to tail stand.
