The Advancedmart FL306A is a 12 LED
headlamp powered by 2 AA cell batteries
The body of the Advancedmart FL306A 12 LED Headlamp
is made of black plastic. On its right is a click switch,
and on its left is the pop-off cap for the battery compartment.
The light body is attached to the forehead plate with
a ratcheting 90° adjustable hinge. The forehead
plate has a foam pad on the inside which rests against
the user's forehead. A three point adjustable headband
is attached to the forehead plate via slots in the plate.
The attachment points have a gap in the center to allow
easy removal of the straps. The straps are very short
- I have a relatively small head and found that the
straps had to be at maximum adjustment to fit comfortably.
People with larger heads will probably not find this
headlamp comfortable.
The bezel/head of the light consists of 12 LEDs mounted
inside a silvered plastic reflector. A plastic lens
and rubber bezel ring help to protect the LEDs.
Output is in the form of a uniform wide spot of light.
Some artifacts may be seen on the very periphery of
the spillbeam. Overall it is a smooth wide directional
flood of light. Very nice for walking around in the
dark. Only one mode is available - all LEDs on or off.
The beam is slightly purplish in color, which is not
unusual for some white 5mm LEDs.

Runtime Plot: Great runtime on 2 AA cells. Over 4 hours
till 50% and at about 4½ hours the boost circuit
gives out. The boost circuit provides fairly steady
output while active. This would be called a semi-regulated
light.
Runtime
completed with XXXXXXXXXXXX batteries. More information
on runtime plots is available HERE.
The switch is a little rubber covered clickie on the
right side of the light. It protrudes, so is susceptible
to accidental activation. Remove the batteries from
the unit when packing. The switch produces a firm click
and tactile feedback when activated. Very easy to activate
and use.
This unit uses O-rings to keep water out of the battery
compartment and the bezel. I'd give it a "Splashable"
at a minimum. Open it up and let it dry out if it gets
wet.
The headband was at maximum adjustment to fit my head
and it was still very tight. The straps need to be longer
- no doubt about it. Great for kids, not adults. The
rubber pad on the forehead plate does create a bit of
a pressure point which could become uncomfortable during
extended usage.
2 AA alkaline cells power the light. To open, lift
a tab on the back side of the battery compartment. Getting
the tab back in place when closing can be a bit tough
if it isn't lined up just right.
What I Liked: Bright, Water resistant, Good
runtime
What I Didn't Like: Short headband
straps
Conclusions: The only real problem
I have with this headlamp is the straps. It runs on
cheap and easy to find AA cells, has semi-regulated
output, is not heavy at all, but the straps are too
short for many adult heads. Otherwise a very good little
inexpensive headlamp with plenty of output and good
runtime.
